Replacing an ECM
If a firmware mismatch alarm is raised on this module, upgrade the
module software. See the appropriate software document for procedures.
See Related Documents for a list of available documents.
If the replacement module does not work, or the LEDs do not respond as
expected, remove and reinstall it. If it still does not work, immediately
install another replacement.

You can replace a defective ECM while the shelf is in service. We
recommend that you have a spare ECM available at all times.
Required Tools and Equipment
l ESD-preventive wrist strap or other personal grounding device
l Suitable grounded surface or a static-dissipative mat
l Replacement ECM-2 or ECM-3
l Torx T10 screwdriver
l Laptop or PC that is installed with these software applications to establish a serial
connection:
o
USB to Serial driver
o
Terminal emulation program, such as PuTTY
l USB to RJ-45 cable
l Electrostatic Discharge Damage Prevention and Warning
l Handling Modules
l General Installation and Maintenance Guidelines
