Mounting a 1U Shelf to a Rack
Mounting a 1U Shelf to a Rack
In this procedure, 1U shelf refers to these components:
l TR1
For procedures for the SH1R, see Mounting the SH1R Shelf to a Rack.
This procedure assumes that:
l The mounting brackets are attached to the shelf; and
l The TR1, has to be installed under or above the appropriate SHx shelf
to store the fibers of that shelf.
If you need to remove a fiber finger pair from the TR1 to provide more
room for cable routing, do so before mounting it in the rack.Remove the
one M4 screw and the two guide pins from one fiber finger pair. Place the
parts in a safe place to reuse later if necessary.
1. Verify that you are properly grounded with an anti-static wrist strap or heel strap
connected to the grounded ESD jack.
2. On the rack mounting rails, locate and mark the mounting holes where you will mount
the shelf.
3. Install two or four cage nuts in the corresponding holes on both sides of the rack.
4. Mount the shelf to the rack:
a. With a person on each side, lift the shelf to the bay and position it in the rack so
that the bracket holes on each side are aligned with the rack mounting holes or
the cage nuts.
b. Use a Pozidriv screwdriver and 2 screws to attach the left mounting bracket to
the rack.
c. Use a Pozidriv screwdriver and 2 screws to attach the right mounting bracket to
the rack.
