Replacing a PSM-AC3
ELECTRIC VOLTAGEWARNING
Before connecting the ACpower cable, ensure that power is
removed from the dedicated AC supply circuit.
This procedure assumes that:
l No voltage is present;
l You properly grounded the shelf to the rack; and
l You unpacked and properly inspected the replacement module.
To remove the module:
1. Verify that you are properly grounded with an anti-static wrist strap or heel strap
connected to the grounded ESD jack.
2. Verify that the power source is disconnected from the PDU.
3. Remove the ACpower cable plug from the dedicated ACpower source outlet.
4. Remove the ACpower coupler from the PSM.
5. Use a Torx T10 screwdriver to unscrew the retaining screw from the PSM.
6. Grasp the handle and carefully slide the PSM out of the shelf.
7. Place the defective PSM on a static-dissipative mat.
8. Return the defective PSM to ADVA Optical Networkingas described in Returning
Equipment
To install the new module:
1. Verify that you are properly grounded with an anti-static wrist strap or heel strap
connected to the grounded ESD jack.
2. Verify that the power source is disconnected from the PDU.
3. Stand behind the shelf, and then hold the PSM upright with the faceplate toward you.
4. Insert the PSMinto the appropriate slot.
5. Gently apply pressure to the faceplate while you push the module into the slot.
6. Push on the faceplate to fully seat the module. The module is completely inserted
when its faceplate is flush with the back plate of the shelf.
