Connecting DC Power to the SH4R and SH4R-2 Shelf
5. Based on your configuration, identify the Power A input power connector(s) you will
use.
6. Connect the lug terminal of the DC power cable to the appropriate power input
connector on the shelf.
7. Useīa wrench to tighten the nut(s), securing the lug terminal to the shelf.
8. Use a voltmeter to verify that no voltage is present at the PDUīpower supply
terminals to which you are connecting the shelf. If voltage is present:
a. Switch the associated power source circuit breaker to the OFF position; or
b. Remove the corresponding fuse from the power source, if required, and store the
fuse in a safe place to reinstall later.
9. Attach the other end of the power cable to the corresponding high-current connectors
of the power source (PDU) according to local site practice.
Ensure that the proper polarity of the DC power is observed. The DC
PSM detects polarity reversal and does not power up when the polarity is
reversed.
10. Tighten the terminal screws of the power source to the specified torque, which can
be found in the power source specification.
Observe the tightening torque values for DC terminal screws on the
DC power supply to make a tight and reliable electrical connection.
Use a torque-controlled screwdriver to tighten screws of the DC
power supply terminals.
Carefully note the polarity of any power connection. If the supply voltage
is applied with the wrong polarity, reverse polarity protection ensures that
no current flows in the wrong direction and therefore there will be no
power at the PSM output.
11. Based on your configuration, identify the Power B input power connector(s) you will
use and Repeat Steps 6 through 10.
12. Use a multimeter to check that a voltage level of ā48 VDC is available at the PDU.
13. Reinstall all fuses into the PDU.
14. Turn the PDU Power A circuit breaker to the ON position.
15. Confirm that the PDU has power. The green power indicator should be lit.
As soon as power is up, the ECM-2 starts booting. The Mod LED of the PSM-DC4
(Power A)īshould turn green to indicate that the units are functioning properly.
The FTM-4s should start working, one after another and the fan status LED should
turn green. This also indicates that the FTMs are functioning properly. In addition, the
power LEDs of all modules installed in the shelf should turn green.
16. Turn on the PDU Power B circuit breaker and check the power LEDs.
As soon as power is up, the ECM-2 starts booting. This is indicated by the slot LEDs
all blinking yellow. The Mod LED of the PSM-DC4 (Power B)īshould turn green to
indicate that the units are functioning properly.
