Operational Risks
Risk Details
Fire Due to
Component
Overheating
l Keep power inlet terminals free of dust. Make sure the
protective cover fits securely on the terminal block of the
DC-input power supply modules.
l Ensure that the air inlets and outlets have enough
clearance to promote airflow for cooling. Always have
sufficient air ventilation during operation
l Never operate the shelves with open or empty slots. Slots
not in use must be filled with slot covers to maintain
proper cooling for all other modules.
l Do not operate a shelf for extended periods unless an air
filter pad is installed in the air filter unit.
l If slot covers and air filter pads are not installed, dust and
dirt can enter the shelf and block the air inlets and outlets.
Blocked air inlets and outlets and uncovered shelf slots
lead to an insufficient airflow for the modules to cool and
considerably increase a fire risk.
Skin Burns
l Module components get hot during operation. Hot
components can burn skin. Allow a module to cool before
touching it.
Electromagnetic
Interference
l Never operate the shelves with open or empty slots.
Failure to properly seal the shelf results in electromagnetic
interference.
l The intrabuilding cables must be shielded, and the shield
must be grounded at both ends.
