A SOUND PRESET can be more than just a single sound. In
most cases, the 16 choices in each family are divided into
two parts; The first eight presets on the left side of the
screen and the second eight choices on the right.
The first eight choices on the left are nearly always single
sounds. The second set of eight choices on the right side
are combi settings which feature layered and split ef-
fects.
However, even when you choose one of the single sound
settings, the instrument does not simply select a single
sound. Each preset contains the correct effects, touch re-
sponse and mixer settings for the sound it contains. As you
move from one preset to the next, you will notice subtle
but effective differences which take place automatically.
On most other instruments you would need to adjust these
setting manually in order to optimize each sound.
If youre interested in knowing how a particular sound pre-
set was created, press the PARTS button, (F5 or F6 on the
right side of the screen) and you will see a list of the com-
ponent parts. Well explore this feature in greater detail in
the EDITING & CREATING section. To return to the home
screen, press ESCAPE.
