As a general rule, if you want to record using only the key-
board and its built-in sounds you should use SONG. If you
want to sing or play another instrument and record this as
well, you should use WAVE.
The big advantage with SONG recording is that you have
extensive editing capabilities. If you make a mistake while
youre recording a song, you can go back later and repair it.
SONGs can also be recorded one track at a time, taking as
long as you need to prepare a complex arrangement of up to
32 tracks. WAVE recordings do not allow you to do this. If
you make a mistake, you must go back and start again.
The Genesys Ensemble also lets you combine both types
of recording. You can spend as much time as you need
carefully preparing a perfect backing track as a SONG. Then
you can play your finished song while you overdub the vo-
cals and record the entire performance as a WAVE.
How to Record A SONG
Lets get ready to record our first SONG. Set the instru-
ment up in the normal way so that everything is ready to
play the piece you want to record.
At this stage we wont worry about anything complex like
multi-tracking. Were just going to record everything at once.
The Genesys Ensemble will record exactly what you play as
you play it.
Once the instrument is set up and ready to play, press the
gray RECORD button
