Using the Styles and Style Controls
KEYBOARD MODE offers six different ways to play the Genesys
Ensemble. When you choose one of the KEYBOARD MODE
settings, the system automatically makes changes to the style
section so that it operates most efficiently for the mode you
selected. Later on, well look at how you change the settings
of the style section yourself. For now, we can let the KEY-
BOARD MODE buttons do all the work for us. Lets begin by
using the most common set-up for playing with styles; a simple
split keyboard where we will play the accompaniment chords on
the left side of the split and the melody on the right side. To set
the instrument up for this style of playing, simply press ACCOMP.
SPLIT in the KEYBOARD MODE section.
Each style is a complete 8-part accompaniment pattern with
drums, bass and up to 6 additional instrumental parts com-
plete with 4 variations, 4 fills, 4 intros and 4 endings. The
styles can be used in a variety of different ways depending
on your preferred playing style. However, setting up the styles
section to match the way that you want to play is pure sim-
plicity thanks to the KEYBOARD MODE buttons described in
the previous section.
The Genesys Ensemble comes complete with 256 styles
which are divided into eight families.
