Recording Studio
The Genesys Ensemble offers the most powerful digital re-
cording studio in its class; featuring both a Midi sequencer
and an integrated Hard Disk Audio Recording System.
First, itî˜ s important to understand the difference between
these two different types of recording devices.
A Midi Sequencer is what you might find on many worksta-
tion and arranger keyboards. It allows you to record what
you play using the instrumentî˜ s internal sounds and styles.
Recordings made using a Midi Sequencer can only be played
back by other electronic keyboards or by computers run-
ning some kind of sequencer or media player software.
Hard Disk Audio Recording is not normally found on key-
boards of any type and the Genesys Ensemble is the first
arranger keyboard to offer this powerful feature. Hard Disk
Audio systems are usually found in recording studios. They
can be used exactly like a tape recorder to record any sound
at all: your singing voice, your guitar playing and so on.
Recordings made using a Hard Disk Audio system can eas-
ily be transferred to CDs so they can be listened to any-
where without the need for any special playback equip-
ment.
Whenever you press RECORD on the Genesys Ensemble,
the first thing you have to decide is whether you want the
recording to be a Midi Sequence, (which we call a SONG),
or Hard Disk Audio, (which we call a WAVE).
