Front shock absorber and spring: Removal - Refitting

a Remove the shock absorber rod with a male Allen
key and a ring spanner.
a Separate the various components which make up
the « spring/shock absorber » assembly.

a If necessary, replace any faulty filter unit compo-
nents (see 31A, Front axle components, Filter
unit assembly: Removal - Refitting, page 31A-38)

er rod nut
a parts always to be replaced: Filter unit assembly
a parts always to be replaced: front anti-roll bar
tie-rod nut
a parts always to be replaced: front shock absorb-
er lower nut
II - REFITTING OPERATION
a Place the spring compressor in a vice.

Note:
When removing or refitting springs, you must not
strike the springs, as this could damage their sur-
face treatments.

Note:
When replacing the spring for easier fitting,
ensure that the positioning and orientation of the
spring and the tool cups are correct.
