FRONT AXLE COMPONENTS
Front axle subframe: Removal - Refitting
31A
a Fit two M12 threaded rods (13) of tool (Tav. 1747) in
the position of the subframe front bolts to guide the
subframe when it is being refitted.
a Refit the brackets.
a Refit the subframe.
a Tighten the subframe bolts in order until contact.
a Torque tighten in order the subframe bolts (110
N.m).
a Torque tighten the bracket bolts (44 N.m).
a Remove the safety strap(s).
a Raise the lift.
a Refit the steering box on the subframe.
a Torque tighten the steering box bolts (180 N.m).
a Refit the steering box heat-resistant protection.
a Torque tighten the steering box heat shield bolts
(21 N.m).
a Clip the oxygen sensor wiring onto the heat shield.
a Refit the rear suspended engine mounting (see
Lower engine tie-bar: Removal - Refitting) (19D,
Engine mounting).
a Refit the power-assisted steering low pressure pipe
on the subframe.
a Torque tighten the power-assisted steering low
pressure pipe bolt on the subframe (21 N.m).
a Refit:
- the lower ball joints in the hub carrier (see 31A,
Front axle components, Front driveshaft lower
arm: Removal - Refitting, page 31A-39) ,
- the subframe tie rods.
a Torque tighten the upper bolt of the subframe tie-
rod (21 N.m).
a Refit:
- the engine undertray,
- the wheel arch liners.
a Refit the front bumper (see Front bumper assem-
bly: Exploded view) (55A, Exterior protection).
III - FINAL OPERATION
a Remove the safety strap(s) from the cooling radia-
tor.
a Refit the front wheels (see 35A, Wheels and tyres,
Wheel: Removal - Refitting, page 35A-1) .
a Check the values of the axle assemblies (see ) .
a Connect the battery (see Battery: Removal - Refit-
ting) (80A, Battery).
