NOTE
The waiting times listed in the following procedure are for RFL 9300s equipped with modems.
Some of these waiting times will be much shorter for units equipped with direct digital or fiber
optic modules.
Perform all steps in the following procedure in the order presented.
1. Verify that all rear panel wiring was done according to the diagrams and information in Section 5 of this
manual. If the RFL 9300 is equipped with fiber optic modules, make sure the fibers are also properly
connected.
2. Establish voice communications with the operator at the remote terminal.
3. Verify that all system configuration jumpers on the Supervisor Module (93A SV) are in the correct posi-
tions as applicable (50 HZ or 60 HZ, Two-terminal, 1A or 5A, Single-pole or Three-pole tripping).
4. Turn on the local
RFL 9300 by placing the POWER switch on the power supply module to the ON (up)
position, and observe the following:
a. All three indicators on the front of the power supply will light, indicating that the power supply is func-
tioning normally. The words "Please Wait" will appear on the display. Red alarm indicators on the
93A SV and 93A PC modules will light, and the beeper will sound.
b. The beeper can be shut off by disabling parameter #44 if desired (audio beeper enable/disable) by
using the PROGRAM mode, as described in para. 6.4.4 later in this section.
c. A green light will illuminate on the display controller (EN/GN = enable/green). This means that trip is
enabled.
d. After a few seconds, the word "ALARM" will flash on the top line of the display, and typically the
numbers "16" , “34 or 35” and "46" will appear on the bottom line. The numbers may be different due
to factory test settings. (A complete list of alarm codes appears in Table 6-4 of this section.)
e. The local RFL 9300 will remain in this state as long as the remote RFL 9300 is turned off.
5. Program the local
RFL 9300 transmit address as follows:
a. On the display module keypad press the ENT key three times to get into the PROGRAM/DISABLE
screen.
b. Press the 8 key to get into the PROGRAM/ENABLE screen.
c. Press the ENT key to enter the SEC CODE screen. (The 9300 is asking the operator for the secu-
rity code)
d. Press .248 ENT. This will get you into the PH BIAS screen in programming mode.
e. Go to the XMT ADD1 screen by doing one of the following:
