Modem Versions
:
Connect a dBm meter across the modem transmit terminals (line coupler
rear panel terminal block, terminals 1 and 2). Lower the 9300 front panel
and adjust potentiometer R30 on the modem module to –10dBm. Reset to
0dBm,or to the value required by your local network, after testing.
Direct Digital Versions
:
Pull the 93 DD I/O module out of the RFL 9300. Place jumper J2 on the 93
D I/O in Position A, and re-insert the module into the chassis. If the P-P
and BER OK indicators still don't light, pull the 93 DD I/O module out gain,
place jumper J3 in Position A, and re-insert the module into the hassis.
If the P-P and BER OK indicators still don't light, pull the 93 DD I/O mod-
ule out again, place J2 back in Position B, and re-insert the module into
the chassis.
Fiber Optic Version:
Temporarily loosen one of the fiber optic patchcord connectors.
Short Haul Fiber Version:
Replace the loopback fiber. If the problem persists, replace the short haul
fiber interface module.
G.703 Version:
Check the loopback jumper and repair or replace if necessary. Verify that
the J5 jumper on the G.703 module is in the “loop” position. If the prob-
lem persists, replace the G.703 module.
6. Using Figure 6-1 and Table 6-1 in Section 6 of this manual, familiarize yourself with the RFL
9300's front-panel controls and indicators.
7. Familiarize yourself with the RFL 9300's different display modes by following the procedures
starting on page 6-6 in Section 6 of this manual.
8. Using the RFL 9300's PROGRAM display mode, go through the RFL 9300's programmable pa-
rameters, and set them in accordance with Table 8-1 for a Two-Terminal system or Table 8-2
for a Three-Terminal system.
9. Place the RFL 9300 back in the STANDBY display mode.
The display will return to the moving dot pattern.
10. If you plan on using a dumb terminal to access the RFL 9300 through its RS-232 port, refer to
paragraph 6.5 in Section 6 of this manual.
11. Connect a dc circuit with 0.2 Ampere loading in series with the DTT-1 trip circuit (rear panel ter-
minals TB2-1 and TB2-2).
