8.4.4.1 ENTERING THE STARTUP MODE
NOTES
Before entering the STARTUP Mode, be sure to isolate the trip output circuit.
As soon as either station in a two terminal system or any of the three stations in a three terminal sys-
tem is placed in STARTUP MODE, all the units will respond by entering Startup Mode. This will occur
whether or not there is an operator using the display at the remote station(s). If the remote station has
an operator displaying values in Read Mode or Program Mode, it may not be apparent that the system
has entered Startup Mode and the remote relay will not display the Phase Sequence Test.
Tables 8-4 and 8-5 list the parameters that are available in STARTUP Mode. To enter the STARTUP Mode
from the STANDBY mode, proceed as follows:
1. Press the [ENT] key two times.
The word "STARTUP" will appear on the top line of the display, and the word "DISABLE"
will appear on the bottom line.
2. Press the [8] key once.
The word "ENABLE" will appear on the bottom line of the display.
3. Press the [ENT] key.
The message "SEC CODE" will appear on the display. This means that you must enter a
security code before the RFL 9300 will enter the STARTUP Mode. Press the [.], [1], [3],[5]
and [ENT] keys as the required security code.
The relay should now be in startup mode and the display will show that the Phase Sequence Test has begun.
NOTE
As soon as the relays enter the startup mode, trip will be disabled at all substations. The RFL 93B SV
at each substation will activate the system alarm as a constant reminder that the relay is not operating
in a normal mode
