Inspecting the HD Equipment
4. If applicable, check inside the shelf to determine that
o
No foreign bodies are present between pins on the backplane connectors;
o
No pins on the backplane connectors are bent or broken; and
o
No backplane connector on the shelf is damaged in any way.
5. If the shelf will not be installed immediately
o
For the SHx shelf, reinstall the front cover and cover the shelf with the ESD
protective bag.
o
For the all other shelves, place it back into the unit box and close the box by
putting the cover on top. Proceed to Step 12
Do not destroy or discard the ESD protective bag. Fold together and save
it along with the other packaging material for reuse later.
6. Carefully unpack each module and place it on a static-dissipative mat.
7. Compare the modules you received to your order. Report any discrepancies to ADVA
Optical Networking immediately.
8. Inspect each module visually
o
Carefully check the plug-in board connector of the module for dirt, any
deformation in the pin holes shape, and damage to the outside.
o
Check the EMI shielding gasket on the faceplate edges for damage.
o
Verify that the module ports are equipped with a dust cover. If not, install one.
o
Check for any impurities present on the module. If necessary, use canned, dry,
oil-free compressed air to blow off any impurities.
Leave the modules on the mat until you are ready to install them.
9. Carefully unpack each pluggable transceiver and place it on a static-dissipative mat.
10. Compare the pluggable transceivers you received to your order. Report any
discrepancies to ADVA Optical Networking immediately.
11. Inspect each pluggable transceiver visually
o
Verify that the pluggable transceiver port is equipped with a dust plug. If not,
install one.
o
Check for any impurities present on the pluggable transceiver. If necessary, use
canned, dry, oil-free compressed air to blow off any impurities.
Leave the pluggable transceivers on the mat until you are ready to install
them.
