Connecting AC and DCPower to theSH4R and SH4R-2 Shelf
The ACpower cable plug serves as the main disconnection device.
Therefore, the dedicated AC power outlet must remain accessible so as
to be readily operable for use.
7. Connect the DCpower connections:
a. Based on your configuration, identify the Power A input power connector(s) you
will use.
b. Connect the lug terminal of the DC power cable to the appropriate power input
connector on the shelf.
c. Usea wrench to tighten the nut(s), securing the lug terminal to the shelf.
d. Use a voltmeter to verify that no voltage is present at the PDUpower supply
terminals to which you are connecting the shelf. If voltage is present:
i. Switch the associated power source circuit breaker to the OFF position; or
ii. Remove the corresponding fuse from the power source, if required, and store
the fuse in a safe place to reinstall later.
e. Attach the other end of the power cable to the corresponding high-current
connectors of the power source (PDU) according to local site practice.
f. Tighten the terminal screws of the power source to the specified torque, which
can be found in the power source specification.
g. Based on your configuration, identify the Power B input power connector(s) you
will use and repeat this step.
Ensure that the proper polarity of the DC power is observed. The DC
PSM detects polarity reversal and does not power up when the polarity is
reversed.
Observe the tightening torque values for DC terminal screws on the
DC power supply to make a tight and reliable electrical connection.
Use a torque-controlled screwdriver to tighten screws of the DC
power supply terminals.
Carefully note the polarity of any power connection. If the supply voltage
is applied with the wrong polarity, reverse polarity protection ensures that
no current flows in the wrong direction and therefore there will be no
power at the PSM output.
8. Insert theACpower cable plug into the dedicated ACpower source outlet.
9. Use a multimeter to check that a voltage level of –48 VDC is available at the PDU.
10. Reinstall all fuses into the PDU.
11. Turn the PDU Power A circuit breaker to the ON position.
12. Confirm that the PDU has power. The green power indicator should be lit.
13. If the dedicated AC power source outlet has a power switch, set it to the ON (|)
position to power on the system for the first time.
