Troubleshooting HDTraffic Modules
Label Color Status Probable Cause Troubleshooting Steps
Red Blinking Module mismatch. Plug in the correct module type — MP-
2B4CT.
Dark (unlit) Off The module is not
provisioned or no
power is supplied
to the module.
1. Ensure that the module is properly
installed in the shelf.
2. Use the management software to
verify that the module is correctly
provisioned.
3. Check whether the power cables
are properly connected to the
PSMs and delivering the required
power.
4. If all other modules in the shelf are
operational, unplug the MP-2B4CT
and re-insert it. If the LEDremains
off, return the module to ADVA
Optical Networking.
Svc
Green On steadily Normal operation. No action is required.
Yellow On steadily The module has
failed, a signal
failure condition
exists on at least
one port, or the
laser failed on a
plug that is
associated with a
multi-lane signal.
1. View the current alarms in the
management software.
2. If the module reports the "fault"
condition, see the appropriate
software guide to resolve this
equipment failure.
3. If the yellow Svc LEDpersists,
locate the yellow port LED(s) and
follow the troubleshooting steps
provided below.
Red On steadily An equipment
failure exists on at
least one port.
Locate the red port LED(s) and follow
the troubleshooting steps provided
below.
Dark (unlit) Off The module admin
state is disabled or
unassigned, no
power is supplied
to the module, or
the module is in a
dormant state.
1. Ensure that the module is properly
installed in the shelf.
2. Use the management software to
verify that the module is correctly
provisioned. If the module admin
state is disabled or unassigned,
set it to "In Service."
3. Check whether the power cables
are properly connected to the
PSMs and deliver the required
power.
4. If all other modules in the shelf are
operational, unplug the MP-2B4CT
and re-insert it. If the Modand Svc
LEDsremain off, return the module
to ADVA Optical Networking.
