Replacing an ECM
5. Push on the faceplate to fully seat the module.
6. Press down on the locking levers to secure the module and connect it to the
backplane. The module is completely inserted when its faceplate is flush with the
faceplates of the adjacent modules and the shelf panels.
7. After you have completely inserted the ECM-2, hand-tighten the thumb screws to
prevent inadvertent dislodging.
8. Use a Torx T10 screwdriver to gently tighten the thumb screws. Do not overtighten.
9. Use a USB to RJ-45 cable to connect the laptop USB port (COMx) to the ECM-2
Serial port.
10. Open a PuTTYsession and enter these fields:
o
Serial line = appropriate COMx port
1
o
Speed = 115200
o
Connection type = serial
11. Click Open.
12. Set the IPaddress and subnet mask for the ECM-2 bridge0 interface.
set dcn dcn-interface bridge0 169.254.0.62/24
13. Transfer the ECMfile from the NCU RAM to the ECM-2 staging area.
execute dbmgt db-copy-from remote-file <ECM filename> ftp
169.254.0.33 <user_id>
Press <Enter> and then enter the password when prompted.
14. Validate and copy the backed up database from staging area to active DB area.
execute dbmgt restore-db
15. Select one of these actions, based on the system response:
o
If the system returns "Success. - all OK," activate the database.
execute dbmgt activate
The ECM-2 will reset with the new database. You will lose connectivity to the
node when the ECM-2 resets.
o
If the system returns "Success. SLOT-ID mismatch," the backed up database is
from the same shelf (same shelf serial number), but a different slot ID. Accept the
IDmismatch.
execute dbmgt accept-id-mismatch
You will lose connectivity to the node when the ECM-2 resets. After the reset, the
ECM-2 operates with the restored database.
o
If the system returns "Success. SHELF-SERIAL mismatch," the backed up
database is from a shelf with a different shelf serial number. Repeat Step 13
through Step 15 with the correct database file.
o
If the system returns any of these error responses, repeat Step 13 through Step
15 with the correct database file.
o
"Restore Database failed. SHELF-UHI mismatch," means that the backed up
database is for the wrong shelf type.
o
"Restore Database failed. CRC validation failed," means that the backed up
database is corrupted.
