The limiter is a system which prevents the microphone input
from accidental overload. By restricting the maximum level
of the microphone, the limiter ensures that the microphone
will not peak if you suddenly sing very loud. To see how the
limiter works, try setting the level to 0dB and then singing
louder and louder. As your volume increases, you will hear
the microphone begin to distort as the input overloads.
Now increase the limiter threshold while you are still singing. When
you reach a point at which you can no longer produce this distor-
tion, the limiter is set at the correct level for your singing style.
At the right side of the display you will see some other
options. The first of these is the MIC EQUALIZER. Press
this button to see the MIC EQUALIZER window.
This is a simple three-band EQ for the microphone. Here
you can adjust the treble, (High Gain), bass, (Low Gain)
and middle, (Middle Gain) to get the right tone for your
microphone. There is also a Middle Frequency control which
allows you to position the Mid Gain control within the avail-
able range of middle frequencies. The values range from
low-mid, (250Hz 1KHz) to high-mid (1.3KHz 6.4KHz).
Selecting the right value of Middle Frequency and then re-
ducing the Middle Gain can be a very effective way to elimi-
nate microphone feedback.
