REALTIME CONTROLS Dynamic Modulation Source List

For preload sounds, either a reverb-type or a delay-type effect is
assigned to master effect 2. Use this when you want to apply these
effects to external audio such as from the mic input.
If no effect is assigned to master effect 2, the display
indicates "No Effect," and this setting does nothing.
When you turn the MFX2/REVERB knob, the setting is shown in
the LCD for a time. While this is shown, you can press the button
located below "WRITE" to save the setting.
Also while this is shown, pressing the button located below the
"QUICK SETTING" indication opens the "QUICK SETTING"
dialog box, where you can set various parameters for audio input.
This parameter is linked to the "Send2" parameter in this dialog
box.
Note that when the EFFECT setting MASTER FX is off and
when MFX2/REVERB is at zero, the effect is not applied
even if you raise this value.
Note: QUICK SETTING and the save-destination will change
depending on the audio input settings of the currently loaded
program, combination, or song. For details, please see “Global
audio input settings (G-SET) and individual settings” on page 22
of the Operation Guide.
AUDIO IN 2
MIC/LINE [Off:Line, On:Mic]
Selects the external input jack that is used.
Off (LED unlit): External audio from the LINE jack is input
(default setting)
On (LED lit): External audio from the MIC jack is input
When you press MIC/LINE, the on/off status is shown in the LCD
for a time. While this is shown, you can press the button located
below "WRITE" to save the setting. Also while this is shown,
pressing the button located below the "QUICK SETTING"
indication opens the "QUICK SETTING" dialog box, where you
can set various parameters for audio input. This setting is linked to
the "Select: Line/Mic" parameter in this dialog box box.
Note: QUICK SETTING and the save-destination will change
depending on the audio input settings of the currently loaded
program, combination, or song. For details, please see “Global
audio input settings (G-SET) and individual settings” on page 22
of the Operation Guide.
VOCODER
Selects a vocoder effect using the mic input, or an effect that is
appropriate for vocals.
When you turn the knob, the program name of the vocoder or
vocal effect is shown in the LCD. Turning the knob all the way to
the left selects Off. If you're not using the vocoder function, select
the Off setting. If you turn the knob toward the right to select a
setting other than Off, the settings of the selected program,
combination, or MIDI song are canceled, and a vocoder or vocal
effect program is recalled. The vocoder cannot be played using the
originally selected sound.
Note: This setting cannot be saved. When the power is turned off
and then on again, the setting is reset to Off.
Example procedure
1. Connect a mic to the MIC jack.
2. Check the AUDIO IN 2 "MIC/LINE" setting. The default
setting is on. If it is off, use the SELECT button to select
AUDIO IN 2, and turn MIC/LINE on. The mic input will
be enabled.
3. Use the SELECT button to select AUDIO IN 1, and turn
ON/OFF on. The audio input will be enabled. Audio from
the mic will be output.
4. Turn GAIN (the KNOB2 knob) to adjust the input gain.
5. Select AUDIO IN 2, and turn VOCODER (the KNOB1
knob) toward the right. For example, make the display
indicate “1: Vocoder Delay MW”.
6. While playing the keyboard, vocalize into the mic. This is
an easy way to perform vocoder sounds.
FX CONTROL [Variable depending on the
selection]
Adjusts the tonal character of the vocoder or vocal effect that's
selected by the AUDIO IN 2 row's VOCODER setting.
When you turn the knob, the LCD shows the name and value of
the parameter that you're adjusting. Depending on the type of
effect, the following effect parameters are controlled.
• Vocoder-type: Formant Shift
• Reverb-type: Reverb Wet/Dry
• Delay-type: Delay Time
Note: The setting cannot be saved. When you switch the program
to a different type, or when you switch it Off, the setting is reset to
the default value.
TEMPO
TAP TEMPO
You can use this button to set the tempo. The button will blink at
quarter-note intervals of the tempo.
To specify the tempo, use your finger to lightly tap the SWITCH
button. The tempo will be specified when you tap twice, but you
should tap several times for better precision.
Tap tempo control is available whenever the KNOB1 knob
can be operated. For example it cannot be controlled during
song playback if the Sequencer mode Tempo Mode is set to
Auto. (see page 103)
Note: You can use the tap tempo control function not only by
pressing the SWITCH button but also by pressing a foot switch
that's connected to the ASSIGNABLE SWITCH jack.
TEMPO [040...300]
Adjusts the tempo.
Although the tempo value has a precision of two places below the
decimal point, knob operations adjust the value above the decimal
point, in the range of 40…300.
Note: The KNOB1 knob and SWITCH button when TEMPO is
selected will not work if the GLOBAL mode G-MIDI>BASIC
"MIDI Clock" parameter is set to Ext-MIDI or Ext-USB, or if this
parameter is set to Auto and MIDI clock is being received. (see
page 103)
ARP - GATE [-64…0…+64]
Changes the duration of the arpeggio notes in real time.
The default value is 64. When the knob is in the center position,
the parameter will have the value specified by the program.
Turning the knob toward the left will shorten the duration, and
turning it toward the right will lengthen the duration.
Tip: It is effective to adjust the TONE 2 row's RELEASE knob.
Note: You can save the edited result. (see page 305)
Saving your edits
Note: This applies to the TONE 1 row's CUTOFF and
RESONANCE, the TONE 2 row's ATTACK and RELEASE, and
the EFFECT row's INSERT EFFECT and MFX2/REVERB knobs.
For other switches and knobs, refer to the applicable item.
The realtime control knobs are an ideal way to modify the sound
while you perform.
