UninterruptiblePowerSupply(UPS)
ItisimportanttoensurecontinuousoperationoftheST90independentofvaryingquality
ofthevessel'smainssupply.Theuseofuninterruptiblepowersuppliesistherefore
required.
Uninterruptiblepowersupplyunitsarenot
includedinthestandardST90delivery.These
itemsmustbepurchasedlocally.
Severalcommercialtypesareavailable.Tochoosethebestpowersolutionforyour
ST90installation,considerenvironmentalconditions,spaceavailable,theavailability
anddurationofthebatteries,andthepowerrequirementsoftheST90.
Twosystemsarerequired:
1OnepowersystemisrequiredtopowertheProcessorUnitandthedisplay.
2OnepowersystemisrequiredtopowertheTransceiverUnit.
Theminimumrequirementsfortheuninterruptiblepowersupply(UPS)are:

•Outputvoltage:230V AC,50Hz
•Outputpower:
–ProcessorUnit+Display:1000W
–TransceiverUnit:1500W
•Outputform:TheoutputACvoltagemustbeasinewave.

Speedlog
Inordertooperatecorrectly,theST90requiresinputfromaspeedlog.Aspeedlogis
normallynotapartoftheST90delivery.WhenaspeedlogisconnectedtotheST90,the
vessel’scurrentspeedcanbepresentedintheuserinterface.
Note
Withouttheinputfromaspeedlog,theST90willneitherbeabletopresentcorrect
navigationalinformation,norcompensateforvesselmovements.Thislackof
compensationwillpreventtheST90fromprovidingcorrectechoinformation.
Inmostcasesasuitablesensorisalreadyinstalledonthevessel.Aglobalpositioning
system(GPS)withacompatibleoutputformatcanalsobeused.
