Toyota 22R-E - Remove Exhaust Manifold from LH Cylinder Head; Cylinder Heads Disassembly; Remove Camshaft Housing Plugs; Remove Valve Lifters and Shims

CYLINDER HEADS DISASSEMBLY
(See Components)
1. REMOVE CAMSHAFT HOUSING PLUGS
(a) Remove the two bolts and housing rear cover.
(b) Remove the housing plug.
40. REMOVE EXHAUST MANIFOLD FROM LH
CYLINDER HEAD
(a) Remove the three nuts and exhaust manifold heat
insulator.
(b) Remove the six nuts, exhaust manifold and gasket.
3. REMOVE VALVES
(a) Using SST, compress the valve spring and remove the
two keepers.

HINT: Arrange the valve lifters and shims in correct
order.
2. REMOVE VALVE LIFTERS AND SHIMS
Pull out the valve lifter and shim by hand.
