PPP Group Definition
CreatingaPPPgroupprovidesawaytobond,orjoin,severalphysicallinks,suchasmultiple
T1s,intoasinglegroup.Aspartofthecreation,apeerIPaddress,defaultgateway,andDNS
addressesareassignedtothegroup.
PPPisusedinnetworkingandisadatalink
protocolthattransportsdatapackets between
twonetworkingnodesviaasimultaneous,bidirectionalconnectionoversynchronousand
ansynchronouscircuits.The datapacketsaredeliveredinorderandcanbeusedoveravariety
ofhosts,ornetworklayerprotocols.
PPPdependsontwoseparateprotocolsforoperation:LCPandNCP.
LCPisnecessaryto
verify,configure,andtestthelinkconnections.NCPisanassemblyofprotocolsusedtoverify
andconfigurethevarietyofnetworklayerprotocolsoverwhichPPPcanbeused.PPPisalso
capableofbeingusedoversuchphysicalnetworksasserialcable,phoneline,and
trunkline.

accessDigitalSubscriberLine(DSL)internet,whicharePointtoPointProtocoloverEthernet
