Chapter 4 Connect the Kinetix 5100 Drive System
Maximum Cable Length
Drive-to-motor power and feedback cables must not exceed:
50 m (164 ft) for axes with Kinetix MPx servo motors and Hiperface
encoder feedback
50 m (164 ft) for axes with Kinetix TLP servo motors and 24-bit high-
resolution serial encoder feedback
30 m (98.4 ft) for axes with Kinetix MPx (catalog number
MPL-Axxxx-H) servo motors and incremental encoder feedback
Cable Preparation for Kinetix TLP Servo Motors
Because the 2090-CTxx-MxDx motor cables are designed specifically for
Kinetix TLP motors, there is no preparation required.
2090-CTPW-MxDF flying lead power cables are equipped with ring lugs
where required, so no cable preparation is needed.
2090-CTFB-MxDD feedback cables are equipped with premolded
connectors on the drive end, so no cable preparation is needed.

Cable Preparation for Kinetix MPx Servo Motors
Motor power and brake conductors on 2090-CPBM7DF (series A) cables have
the following dimensions from the factory. If your cable is reused from an existing
application, the actual conductor lengths could be slightly different.

Motor power and brake conductors on 2090-CPBM7DF (series B) 12 and 10
AWG standard, non-flex cables provide (drive end) shield braid and conductor
preparation designed for compatibility with multiple Kinetix servo-drive
families, including Kinetix 5100 drives.
