Inspection guide
The purpose of this inspection guide is to aid you in identifying unsafe conditions.
If any unsafe conditions exist, find out how serious the hazard could be and if you can continue before you
correct the hazard.
As you service the machine, check for the following:
• Damaged, missing, or altered parts, especially in the area of the On/O switch and the power supply
• Damaged, missing, or altered covers, especially in the area of the top cover and the power supply cover
• Possible safety exposure from any non-Lexmark attachments
Lubrication guide
Lubricate only when parts are replaced or as needed, not on a scheduled basis. Use of lubricants other than
those
specified
can cause premature failure. Some unauthorized lubricants may chemically attack
polycarbonate parts.
Use the following lubricants to lubricate the appropriate areas except for the fuser drive, ITU, and cartridge
drive assemblies:
• IBM no. 10 oil, P/N 1280443 (Approved equivalents: Mobil DTE27, Shell Tellus 100, Fuchs Renolin MR30),
• IBM no. 23 grease (Approved equivalent Shell Darina 1)
• Grease, P/N 99A0394
Use Nyogel type 774 to lubricate the fuser drive assembly and Nyogel 744 to lubricate the ITU and cartridge
drive assemblies.
