8.8 Towing
WARNING
When the engine is stopped the vehicle with rotating cardan shafts is steerable almost
up to standstill with increased effort on the steering wheel. The existing emergency
steering pump serves only for stopping action in case of diesel engine failure. Towing,
thus, is not allowed.
– Caution, if the brake is not functional! Only use vehicles with sufficient braking
power to tow the machine.
– For towing, use exclusively inflexible towing bars of sufficient dimensions. No other
vehicles may be towed or loads drawn using the machine itself.
If it should be necessary to tow the machine, then always observe the regional regula-
tions on the towing vehicle and on securing of the vehicle combination on public roads
and paths. Engage the parking brake and additionally secure the machine against
inadvertent rolling away using the four wedges attached to the bunker front wall. Notify
the nearest authorised customer service of ROPA. You need suitable salvaging aids
and tools.
– Remove the cardan shaft (1) between the reduction gears and the CVR gearbox.
The CVR gearbox has no switch position "neutral".
– Connect an appropriate salvaging aid e.g. a rigid towing bar (See Page 514).
– Release the parking brake manually, (See Page 516).
ADVICE
It is impossible to start the engine of the machine by towing or rolling.
