6.14.6 Lifting shares
The shares are used to break open the soil and lift the sugar beets from the ground.
Every lifting share is fastened to the share holder with two bolts. The lifting shares (1)
normally are fastened using the bottom hole (5) of the share holder.
ROPA offers "open" and "closed" lifting shares for different soil conditions. They are
available with or without Widia (hard metal) attachments. We recommend the open
model for heavy, clayey soil and large beets. We recommend the closed model for
sandy soil and small beets. Only tests can show what type will lead to the best lifting
result.

The share spacing can be adjusted by fastening the original ROPA shares to one
of three holes with Unibolt screws (3). Usually, the central hole marked no. 2 is the
most suitable. To fasten the lifting share to hole 2 or 3 the share extensions (2) ROPA
item no. 120699002 or 120699102 must be adjusted accordingly. No other share
extension to be used if the lifting share is fixed in the hole 1. The distance between the
share extension and the lifting share must be set as small as possible.
No general recommendation can be made here.
