9. Auxiliary systems
Thissectionprovidesanoverviewoftheauxiliarysystemandhowitisconfigured.
9.1. Introduction to auxiliary systems
Theauxiliarysystemservesasastandalonesystemformonitoringthereadingsonacurrentorother
transducer.BothACorDCcurrenttransducerscanbeused.
ThetypicalapplicationforthistypeofsystemistomonitorcurrentflowingthroughtheACfeedsintoasite
orapowersystem.
9.2. Create an auxiliary system
To create an auxiliary system:
1. GotoSystems > Add or Remove Systems andselecttheCreate Auxiliary System button.
2. GotoSystems > Auxiliary System > Configure System andenteraName andDescription for
thesystem.
9.2.1. Create a system from a configuration file
Asystemcanbecreatedbyimportingfromaconfigurationfile.SeetheImporting a system sectionfor
moreinformation.
9.3. Current transducers
Thephysicalcurrenttransducercanbeofthevoltage-outputtype(0to5Vor0to10V)orcurrent-output
type(4to20mA)typedependingontheaccuracyrequirements.A4to20mAtypeismoreaccurate
becauselossesinthesensorleadsareinherentlycompensated.
AtransducerwithavoltageoutputcanbeconnecteddirectlytoaCordex®CXCHPL-ADIOperipheral
voltageinput.Atransducerwith4to20mAoutputmusthavea500Rresistoraddedacrossthevoltage
input.ForAC,thecurrenttransducermustbeofthetypewhichconditionsthesignaltoprovideaDC
outputproportionaltotheRMS(oraverage)value.ACwaveformscannotbemonitoredbytheCordex®
CXCHPL-ADIOperipheralinputcircuitryduetonoisefiltering.
9.4. Configure the current transducer
Thesystem,bydefaultdoesnotcontainanycurrenttransducers.Youcanaddorremovecurrent
transducersasneeded.ToconfigureacurrenttransduceryouneedavoltageinputonanADIOmodule.
ToconfigureacurrenttransducerwithanCordex®CXCHPCT-IPMmodule,youneedashuntinputon
anADIOmodule.
