21.1.4. Calibrate shunts, current transducers, and temperature probes
Thissectioncoversthecalibrationofshunts,currenttransducers,andtemperatureprobesthatare
connectedtoADIOmoduleinputs.
21.1.4.1. Shunt calibration
Notice: Calibration is considered an expert user task.
Tocalibrateashuntcorrectly,youneedhardwaretogenerateandmeasuretheinputsignalaccurately.
ThistopiccovershowtodoaSingle-Point Calibration.IfyouneedtodoaSlope/Offset Calibration or
aTwo-Point Calibration,afactorycalibrationdocumentshouldbewrittenshowing,step-by-step,how
boththehardwareandthesoftwareneedtobeusedtoperformanaccuratecalibration.
AshuntCurrent readingiscalculatedasfollows:
To perform a single-point calibration on a shunt:
1. GotoSystems > DC System > Inventory > Shunts andselecttheGO TO buttontoselectoneof
theavailableshunts.
2. SettheOffset tozero.
3. Measuretheactualcurrentflowinginamps.Itmaybeeasiesttodothismeasurementat0.0amps.
4. Recordthemeasuredvalue:____________A.
5. Subtractthedisplayedvalue:____________A,fromthewebinterface.
6. Calculatethenewoffset:_____________A.Offset=MeasuredValue-DisplayedValue.
7. SelecttheEDIT buttonoftheOffset field.EnterthenewoffsetinampsandselectSave.
8. VerifythattheOffset fieldwasupdated,andthatthenewdisplayedvaluematchesthemeasured
value.
