Generallyasubsystemwillcorrespondtoaphysicalrackonthesite.Subsystemsthatdistributepower
fromthesamesourceshouldallbecontainedwithinthesamedistributionsystem.Multipledistribution
systemsarepossible,butshouldonlybeusediftherepresentationofmultipledistributionssystemsis
required.
Forexample,distributionequipmentsuchasondifferenttwodifferentfloors,maybebetterrepresented
bytwodistributionssystemratherthanone.
Thefollowingsectionsdescribethedifferentsubsystemsandinformationoncreatingthem.
10.4. Create a smart subsystem
Asmartsubsystemcorrelatesone-to-onewitha“smart”distributionADIOmodule,suchastheSmart
BDFBortheSmartE2distributionsubsystems.Thenumberofpanelsandbreakerssupportedbythat
ADIOmodulearecreatedautomatically.Duringthewizardsetup,youcanmaptheADIOmoduleforthe
subsystem.ThiscanalsobedonelateriftheADIOmoduleisnotavailablewhenthesystemiscreated.
ThesmartsubsystemwillnotfunctionproperlyuntilthecorrecttypeofADIOmoduleisassigned.
Inthefirststepofthewizard,thereisanoptiontonamethesubsystem.Thecurrentsmartdistribution
subsystemsaretheSmartBDFBortheSmartE2.FromthelistofADIOmodulescurrentlyacquired
bythecontroller,youcanchoosetheADIOmoduleforthissubsystem,oritcanbedonelaterviathe
Systems > Distribution System > Subsystem > ADIO page.OnceanADIOmoduleisselected,you
canchooseto“locate”theADIOmoduletoensureitiscorrect.Itisalsopossibletogiveacustomname
totheADIOmodulesothatitiseasilyrecognizedintheModules > All Modules list.
Inasmartsubsystem,inventoryisautomaticallycreatedbasedonthesystemtype.Forexample,a
SmartBDFBdistributionsubsystemsupportseightpanelswith20breakersperpanel,andaSmartE2
distributionsubsystemhastwopanelswith11breakers.TheADIOmoduleinputstopanelsandbreakers
arealsomappedautomatically.
AsmartsubsystemgetsallavailableinformationfromitsassociatedADIOmodule.Foreachpanel,the
currentandvoltagearemeasuredbytheADIOmodule,aswellasanyactivealarms.OntheSmartBDFB
subsystem,onebreakertripsignalisavailableperpanel.Thismeansthatthesubsystemknows,atthe
panellevel,thatoneormoreofthe20breakersassociatedwiththatpanelaretripped,butnotwhich
particularbreakers.OntheSmartE2subsystem,theindividualbreakertripsignalsareprovidedbythe
ADIOmodule,sotheycanbedisplayedatthebreakerlevel.
TheSmartBDFBsubsystemalsohastheabilitytohaveitspanelssetupas“linked”tootherpanels,
or“blank”ifunused.ThisinformationcanbeviewedfromtheSystems > Distribution System >
Subsystem > Panel page.
TheSmartE2subsystemhasatemperaturealert,whichotherADIOmoduletypesdonot.Thereisa
fieldcalledOver Temperature Alert inthesubsystem,whichisonlypopulatedforSmartE2-based
subsystems.
