system.
7.1. Introduction to inverter systems
AninvertersystemtakesbothACand48Vdcinputandconvertsitto120Vacoutputvoltage.The
invertersystemcanoperateinoneofseveralmodes:

Line (AC-AC): WhenACinputispresenttheinvertersnormallytakethisvoltageandconvertitto
ACattheoutput.
•
Inverter (DC-AC): WhenACinputislost,theinverterstaketheDCinputvoltageandconvertitto
ACattheoutput.
•
Bypass Mode: Whenthemaintenancebypassswitchhasbeenusedtobypasstheinvertersand
directlyconnecttheACinputtotheoutput.
Tomonitorandinteractwiththeinvertersystem,thecontrollercommunicateswithasub-controllerscalled
aT2S.
7.1.1. Components of a T2S inverter system
AninvertersystemtypicallyconsistsofanACsource,aDCsource,inverters,anACload,inputbreakers,
outputbreakers,andabypassswitch.Averylargeinvertersystemmaynothaveabypassswitchandwill
usebreakerstoperformthemaintenancebypassfunction.
