20.6.8. Machine user
Inadditiontotheregularusersmentionedinaprevioussection,thereisalsoa"machine"user.Thisuser
isnotshownontheUsers page.Thisuserisnotusedbyaperson,butratherisusedtoallowexternal
softwaretointeractwiththecontroller.Bydefault,the"machine"userisdisabled.Thiscanbeseenby
lookingattheMachine Account Status tableontheUsers page.The"machine"userwillonlyever
becomeenabledifauserprovidesexternalsoftwareauthorizationtoperformoperationsonthiscontroller.
Thisauthorizationprocessisdoneintheexternalsoftware,andusesthesameauthenticationmechanism
asnormalloginsviathewebinterface.
Whenexternalsoftwareperformsoperationsonacontroller,eventlogentriescanbeseenshowingthe
"machine"userloggingin,aswellaswhichexternalsoftwareisperformingtheoperations,andwho
initiatedthem.
Whenthe"machine"userisenabled,thatauthorizationcanberevokedby:
1. GotoController > Users & Security > Users
2.
IntheMachine Account Status table,selectDisable Machine Account,andselectYes
Theexternalsoftwarewillnolongerbeabletousethe"machine"usertoperformoperationson
thiscontroller.
20.6.9. Remote configuration lockout
TheRemote Configuration Lockout featureallowsforacompletelockoutofconfigurationchanges
fromthewebinterface.Whenthisfeatureisactive,nouser,regardlessofpermissionlevel,willbeableto
changeormodifytheconfigurationviathewebinterface.Configurationchangeswillstillbepossiblevia
theLCD.
To enable this feature:
1. OntheLCD,gotoMaintenance > Remote Configuration Lockout.
2. SelecttheEDIT buttonbesideRemove Configuration Lockout,changethevaluetoDisabled
(logginginifrequired),thensave.
3. SelecttheEDIT buttonbesideLockout Override Time,enterinthedesiredtimetooverridethe
lockout(moreontheoverrideinthefollowingsections),thensave.
AftertheRemote Configuration Lockout featureisenabled,noconfigurationchangeswillbeallowed
fromthewebinterface.
