Hard disk drives / solid state drives
7.4.3.2 Preliminary steps
I The 2.5-inch HDD SAS backplane is mounted on the drive cages. It is
not necessary to remove the drive cage before replacing the SAS / SATA
backplane
Perform the following procedures:
Ê "Opening the rack door" on page 64
Ê "Locating the defective server" on page 56
Ê "Disabling BitLocker functionality" on page 85
Ê "Shutting down the server" on page 65
Ê "Disconnecting power cords" on page 66
Ê Remove all HDD / SSD modules from the server as described in section
"Removing 2.5-inch HDD / SSD modules" on page 154.
V CAUTION!
Ensure that all hard disk drives are uniquely identified so that you can
reinsert them into their original bays after replacing the HDD
backplane.

If further required, remove the server from the rack as described in section
"Removing the server from the rack" on page 70.
