Context
Whenevermorethanonehydroacousticsystemisinstalledonavessel,interferencemay
occur.Toavoidinterference,youhavetheseoptions:
•Thesystemsareallconnectedtoacommonsynchronizationsystem.
•Oneoftheacousticsystemsissetupas"master",andcontrolsthetransmissionson
theothersystems.
TheES80offersfunctionalityforremotetransmitsynchronization.Itcanbesetupto
operateineitherMasterorSlavemode.
Note
TheWideBandTransceiver(WBT)offersan Auxiliary portthatcanbeusedfor
synchronisationpurposes.Thissynchronizationmethodmaybemorestablethatthe
traditionalCTS/RTSconnectiontoaserialport.
WhenyouworkintheInstallationdialogbox,youmustalwaysselectApplytosavethe
changesmadeonapage.Youmustdothisbefore
youcontinueworkingonadifferent
page.
Procedure
1Connectthesynchronizationcablefromtheremotesystemtoanavailable
communicationportonyourProcessorUnit.
ThisisdescribedintheES80Installationmanual.
2TurnontheES80,andsetittonormaluse.
3OpentheSetupmenu.
4OntheSetupmenu,selectInstallation.
ObservethattheInstallationdialogboxopens.Thisdialogboxcontainsanumber
ofpagesselectedfromthemenuontheleftside.
5OntheleftsideoftheInstallationdialogbox,selectSynchronization.
6SelectSynchronizationMode.
•Stand-alone
Synchronizationisturnedoff.Thissynchronizationmodeisusedifthe
ES80isworkingbyitselfandwithnosynchronizationrequired.Thisisthe
defaultsetting.TheES80operatesusingitsinternalpingintervalparameters,
independentofanytriggersignalsarrivingatthesynchronizationport.
ThismodeisunavailableifyousetSynchronizationPorttoTransceiverAuxiliary
Port.
TheSynchronizationDelaysettingisnotapplicablewhensynchronizationis
switchedoff.
