SeriallinecommunicationisimportantforES80operation.Theinformationfrom
externaldevices,suchasnavigationsensors,isbasedonserialline"datagrams".For
mostcommercialdevices,theformatsofthesedatagramsaredenedbyNMEA
(NationalMarineElectronicsAssociation).TheAddSerialPortdialogboxallowsyouto
putafreeserialport(COMport)ontheProcessorUnittouseforinterfacepurposes.

listofserialportsontheI/OSetuppage.
TheI/OSetuppageislocatedintheInstallationandOutput
dialogboxes.TheInstallationdialogboxislocatedonthe
Setupmenu.TheOutputdialogboxisalsolocatedonthe
Setupmenu.
Description
ThersttimetheProcessorUnitispoweredupafteraES80softwareinstallation,itwill
automaticallydoasearchtondavailableserialports.
•IftheProcessorUnitwasprovidedbyKongsbergMaritimeasapartoftheES80
delivery,youcanonlyusetheportsthatwerettedbythemanufacturer.
•IftheProcessorUnitwaspurchasedlocally,youmayincreasethenumberofserial
portsbyaddingaserialadapter.
Ifyouhaveaddednewhardware,youmustalsoallowtheES80tousethenewport(s).
SelectAdd,andusetheAddSerialPortdialogbox.Selecttheportinthelist,andselect
OK.
