Settinguptheinputfromanavigationsystem(GPS)
FortheES80touseandoffercorrectnavigationalinformation,oneormoreexternal
sensorsmustbeconnected.Typicalsensorsarethosethatprovidespeed,headingand
geographicalposition.Toselectwhichsensorstoinstall,usetheSensorInstallation
page.Yourcurrentpositionisshownonthetopbarifyouhaveenabledthisinthe
DisplayOptionsdialogbox.
Prerequisites
Thisprocedureassumesthat:
•YouhaveavacantinterfaceportonyourProcessorUnit.
•YouarefamiliarwithNMEAandotherrelevantdatagramformats.
•Youknowhowtosetuptheparametersforserialandlocalareanetwork(LAN)
communication.
•Theinterfaceportissetupwiththecorrectcommunicationparameters.
•TheES80isturnedon,anditisworkingnormally.
•ThenewsensorisphysicallyconnectedtotheES80usingaserialornetworkcable.It
isswitchedonandinnormaloperation.
Neithertoolsnorinstrumentsarerequired.
Context
TheSensorInstallationpageallowsyourES80tocommunicatewithexternalsensors
andsystems.Youmustspecifywhichcommunicationporttouse(LAN(LocalArea
Network)orserialport).Youcantypeacustomnametoidentifythesensorimport.In
thelistofvaliddatagramformats,selecttheformat(s)tobeacceptedbytheES80.Once
asensorhasbeenchosen,youmustselecttheoffsetvaluesthatdenethesensor’s
physicallocationrelativetoyourvessel’scoordinatesystem.

JustmakingchangesandselectingOKatthebottomofthepagewillnotinstallanything.
