WhentheES80starts,itisveryimportantthatitdetectsthebottomcorrectly.Inmost
casesthiswilltakeplaceautomatically.However,wehaveexperiencedthatlarge
schoolsofshordifcultbottomconditionshavedeceivedtheES80todisplaythe
wrongdepth.Inthesecasesthesoundermaydisplaythebottomat0,0metersatthetop
oftheshschool.InordertoaidtheES80tolocatethecorrectdepth,youmustadjustto
bottommaximumandminimumrangesaccordingtotheactualbottomdepth.
Verifyingthatthebottomiscorrectlydetected
LocatingthebottomisimportantfortheES80.TheES80needsthis"bottomlock"to
locatethecorrectdepth,andtostayonitduringtheoperation,evenifthedepthchanges
continuously.Occasionally,difcultenvironmental,waterorbottomconditionsmay
inhibit"bottomlock".

TheBottomDetectionparametersprovideseparatelimitsforminimumandmaximum
depth.Theselimitsmaybeusedtoobtain"bottomlock"onthedepthwhentheES80is
transmitting.TheBottomBackstepparameterallowsyoutomanuallymodifywhereon
thebottomechothedepthshallbedetected.

usefulifyouonlywishtostudytargetsinthewatercolumn.
