Systemdescription
TheSimradES80isthemostmodern“highend”splitbeamechosounderinthe
professionalsherymarket.Basedonmorethan60yearsofresearchanddevelopment
inclosecollaborationwithshermenandleadingmarinescientiststhiswidebandecho
soundersystemhassucceededthefamousES60andES70systems.
Simradhasmanufacturedshndersformorethan65years,andwehavemorethan
25yearsofexperiencewithsplitbeamtechnology.Ourrstsplitbeamshnder,
operatingon38kHz,cameonthemarketin1984.Itwasquicklyfollowedbya70kHz
system.Today,wecanofferawiderangeofoperationalfrequenciesfrom18kHzused
fordetectingdeepwaterspecies,upto333kHzusedforndandmeasureplankton.
TheSimradES80isthefthgenerationprofessionalsplitbeamshnderfortheworld
wideshingcommunity.Thelatestinnovationsincomputerandsignalprocessing
technologyareusedtocreateasophisticated,butalsointuitive,echosounder.It

TheSimradES80isawidebandechosounder.Itcanoperatewithoperational
frequenciesrangingfrom10to500kHz.Withasuitabletransducer,theES80canuse
frequencysweeps("chirps")acrossarangeoffrequencies.Thisgivesyouincreased
resolutiononthelongerranges.
Originallydesignedforoutscienticsounders,theES80canalsoofferthe"target
response"(TS)curve.Thisfunctionmakesiteasiertodeterminewhichspeciesyou
arelookingat.
