TheSizeDistributioninformationpaneshowsahistogramoftheechoesdetectedfrom
singleshes.Thecalculationsarebasedonthefactthatdifferentshspecieshave
differentechostrength.Theechostrengthalsodependsontheoperationalfrequencyyou
use.Thehistogrampresentstheactualsizeoftheshinweightorlength,orwithecho
strength(shownindB).
Prerequisites
TheSizeDistributioninformationpaneonlyworkswhenyouhaveasplit-beam
transducer.
Howtoopen
ToopentheSizeDistributioninformationpane,clickinthechosenviewto
activateit,thenselecttheSizeDistributionbuttononthetopbar.Toclosethe
informationpane,selectthebuttononthetopbaronemoretime.Youcanalso
selectCloseinthetoprightcornerofthepane.
Description
TheSizeDistributioninformationpaneshows
ahistogramofthesingleshechoesthatare
detected.Thecalculationsarebasedonthe
parametersyouhaveselectedintheCalculation
Intervaldialogbox.Itthusprovidesavisual
indicationonhowlargetheindividualshesare
withinthechoseninterval.
Onlytheshesdetectedbythecurrentchannel
areshown.Inthiscontext,thephrasechannel
isusedasacommontermtoidentifythe
combinationoftransceiver,transducerand
operatingfrequency.
Thenumbershowstheaveragesizeofallthe
shesinthehistogram.Thevalueispresentedin
theunityouhavechosenontheSizeDistributionpage.ForanaccurateX-axisvalue,
placethecursorontheaxis,andreadthevaluefromthetooltiplabel.
Theabbreviation"TS"iscommonlyusedfor"targetstrength".Thisisameasureofhow
strongechotheindividualshesinthecurrentechogramgenerate.

Thetargetstrengthfromashvariesfromspecietospecie.TheFishSelectdialogbox
allowsyoutoselecttheshspeciesyouexpecttocatch,andmanuallyadjustthesize
