TheProcessorUnitisthecomputerthatcontrolstheES80system.Itisavitalpartofthe
ES80Widebandshndingechosounder.TheProcessorUnitcontainstheoperational
software,andofferstheuserinterfacethatallowsyoutocontroltheES80.Furthermore,
itoffersanumberofserialandEthernetlinesforcommunicationwithexternaldevices.

ThecomputermustmeettheoperatingsystemrequirementsprovidedbyMicrosoft

ThecomputermustalsoprovidethenecessaryinterfacefacilitiesthatyourES80needs
tocommunicatewithperipheralsystems.Thecomputermustbedesignedforrugged
use,andtheconstructionmustbeabletowithstandthevibrationsandmovementsofa
vessel.TheoperatingsystemmustbeMicrosoft

AhighqualityEthernetadapterisrequired.IfyouwishtoconnecttheProcessorUnitto
theship’snetwork,youwillneedtwoEthernetadapters.
TheProcessorUnitisnormallymountedonthebridgeorinascienticlaboratory.
Note
TheEthernetadaptercommunicatingwiththeWideBandTransceiver(WBT)mustoffer
aReceiveBuffersfunction.Thisparametermustbesettoitsmaximumvalueifmorethan
oneWideBandTransceiver(WBT)isused.
TheProcessorUnitisnotastandardpartoftheES80delivery.Asuitablecomputermay
beprovidedwiththeES80.TheProcessorUnitisdesignedforruggedmaritimeuse.
IthasbeencustomizedbyKongsbergMaritime.Exceptfromthefans,itcontainsno
movingparts.Thecomputerisbasedonacommercialdesign,butthesoftwareand
hardwarehavebeenspeciedbyKongsbergMaritimetosuittheES80requirements.
Itissetupwithallnecessarysoftware.Consultyourlocaldealeroragentformore
information.
TheES80designsupportstwodisplays.Thiscanbeapracticalsolution.Youcanplace
thetwodisplaysnexttoeachother.Youcanalsochoosetoplacetheseconddisplayat
anotherlocationonthevessel.
