InstallingGPTtransceiverchannels
InordertousetheES80,theProcessorUnitmustbeconnectedtooneormore
transceivers,andeachofthemmustinturnbeconnectedtooneormoretransducers.
Eachchannelmustbeinstalledbeforeitcanbeputtouse.TheES80alsosupportsthe
useofGeneralPurposeTransceiver(GPT)transceivers.InordertouseGeneralPurpose
Transceiver(GPT)transceivers,minimumoneWideBandTransceiver(WBT)mustbe
installedrsttohandlethesoftwarelicensefortheES80system.
Prerequisites
TheES80isinstalledasspeciedintheES80Installationmanual.
•Allcablesareconnectedandtested.
•Eachtransceiverispoweredup.
•TheGeneralPurposeTransceiver(GPT)isnotconnectedtotheEthernetswitch.
•ThesoftwarelicenseforeachWideBandTransceiver(WBT)isinstalledand
activated.
•TheEthernetadapterintheProcessorUnitissetupwithauniqueIPaddress.
•AllrelevanttransducersareinstalledusingtheTransducerpage.
Context
IfyouupgradeanolderechosounderthatusesaGeneralPurposeTransceiver(GPT),
youmustaddaWideBandTransceiver(WBT)tothesystemconguration.TheWBT
isrequiredasa“dongle”tomeetthelicenserequirements.WhenyouareusingWBT
andGPTtransceiverstogether,itisimportanttosettheWBTwithlicensefeature"GPT
Control"asthetoptransceiverinthetransceiverlist.Inthisposition,theES80willbe
abletoreadthelicense.
ThelistintheupperpartontheTransceiverInstallationpageshowsyouanoverview
ofthetransceiversandchannelsthatarecurrentlyavailable.Tochangetheorderof
thetransceivers,usethetwoarrowbuttonsontherighthandsideoftheTransceiver
Installationpage.Ifyoufailtodothis,theES80willprovideanerrormessagestating
thattheoptionforGPTisnotenabled.ThestatusfortheGPTisthen"Prohibited".
AllrecentES80softwarelicensesfortheWideBandTransceiver(WBT)include
licensingforoneormoreGeneralPurposeTransceiver(GPT)units.Ifyourlicenseistoo
old,anddoesnotsupporttheGPT,contactoursupportorganizationforanewlicense.
