ThepurposeoftheNormalOperationdialogboxistoprovideyouwithanoverviewof
thecurrenttransceiverparameters.Italsoallowsyoutochangetheseparametersto
matchyourcurrentoperationalrequirements.
Prerequisites
TheNormalOperationdialogboxisonlyavailablewhentheES80operatesinNormal
mode.
Howtoopen
ThisdialogboxisopenedfromtheOperationmenu.
Description
TheNormalOperationdialogboxlistsallthetransmissionparameters.Thedialogbox
providesonerowforeachchannelinuse.Inthiscontext,thephrasechannelisused
asacommontermtoidentifythecombinationoftransceiver,transducerandoperating
frequency.Youarepermittedtochangetheparameters.
Note
ThesettingsintheNormalOperationdialogboxarelimitedbythespecicationsinthe
transducersetuple.Youcanthereforenotmakeanychangesthatmightdamageyour
transceiverortransducer .Certainsettingsmaybelimitedbyyourlicense.
Donottomakeanychangesunlessyouarewellawareoftheconsequences.
Ifyouwishtoinvestigatetheambientnoise,choosePassivemodeintheNormal
Operationdialogbox.Anynoiseordisturbanceinthewater-withinthetransducer's
frequencyrange-willthenbedetectedandshown.Thisfeaturewillforexamplebe
abletopickupdisturbancesfromotherhydroacousticsystemsonyourownvessel,or
onothervesselsinthevicinity.
TheES80supportswidebandtransmissionsusingfrequencysweeps.Thisisoften
referredtoas"chirp",andmeansthatthetransmissionfrequencychangesfroma"start"
frequencytoan"end"frequencywithinthetransmission.Inordertousethefrequency
sweep("chirp")functionality,youmustusefrequencymodulated(FM)pulses.Youmust
alsouseawidebandtransducerthatsupportsthecompletefrequencyrange.
