ThePingfunctionenablesordisablestheES80transmissionsintothewater.Once
pingingisOn,usethePingModefunctiontochoosehowoftentheES80shall
transmit.UsethePingIntervalfunctiontochoosethetime(inmilliseconds)
betweeneachtransmission("ping")whenPingModeissettoInterval.
4SetPingModetoMaximum.
ThiswillmaketheES80pingwithmaximumpingrate("speed").
Thepingrateisnormallylimitedbythemaximumrangesettings.Itwillalso
bedependantonhardwareissues.Thismaybe,forexample,howfastyour
ProcessorUnitcanhandletheinformationfromeachping,howfastyoursystem
communicateswithexternalperipherals,orhowlongtimethesystemusestosave
data.
Result
TheES80isnowtransmittingacousticpulses("pinging")intothewater.
Furtherrequirements
WhentheES80starts,itisveryimportantthatitdetectsthebottomcorrectly.Inmost
casesthiswilltakeplaceautomatically.However,wehaveexperiencedthatlarge
schoolsofshordifcultbottomconditionshavedeceivedtheES80todisplaythe
wrongdepth.Inthesecasesthesoundermaydisplaythebottomat0,0metersatthetop
oftheshschool.InordertoaidtheES80tolocatethecorrectdepth,youmustadjustto
bottommaximumandminimumrangesaccordingtotheactualbottomdepth.
