Atransducermustalwaysbehandledasadelicateinstrument.Incorrectactionsmay
damagethetransducerbeyondrepair.Observethesetransducerhandlingrules:
•Donotactivatethetransducerwhenitisoutofthewater.
•Donothandlethetransducerroughlyandavoidimpacts.
•Donotexposethetransducertodirectsunlightorexcessiveheat.
•Donotusehigh-pressurewater,sandblasting,metaltoolsorstrongsolventstoclean
thetransducerface.
•Donotdamagetheouterprotectiveskinofthetransducerface.
•Donotliftthetransducerbythecable.
•Donotsteponthetransducercable.
•Donotdamagethetransducercable,andavoidexposuretosharpobjects.
Procedure
1Allowforsufcientaccesstocleanandinspecttheentiresurfaceofthetransducer.
2Removebiologicalfoulingcarefullyusingaplasticbrush,asuitablesynthetic
detergentandfreshwater.
Biologicalmaterialwhichisstronglyrootedinthesubstratecanberemoved
carefullywithapieceofwoodorplastic.Ifrequired,youcanalsousecitricacid.
Apply,leaveitworkingforseveralhours,andrinsethoroughlywithfreshwater.
Note
Donotusehigh-pressurewater ,sandblasting,metaltoolsorstrongsolventstoclean
thetransducerface.Donotdamagetheouterprotectiveskinofthetransducerface.
3Allowthetransducersurfacetodry.
4Doathoroughvisualinspectionofthetransducer.Checkfordents,scratches,
holesorotherdamagetothesurface.
Ifyoususpectdamage,takeahighresolutionphoto.Contactyourdealerorthe
Simradsupportorganizationforadvice.
5Ifnecessary,applyanti-foulingpaintasdescribedinthededicatedprocedure.
Note
Becausesomepainttypesmaybeaggressivetothepolyurethaneinthetransducer,
consultourlistofapprovedpaints.
