5.5.2.4 Local and Global Connectors Settings
Each of the "Trigger In", "Marker" and "Clock" dialogs and the "Trigger Marker Clock"
dialog provides a quick access to the related connector settings.
See also Chapter 12.2, "Configuring Local and Global Connectors", on page 714.
5.5.3 How to Use the Trigger Settings
In test setups that combine the signal of two or more instruments and/or basebands it
is often required that:
●
The signal generation starts at a defined moment
●
The signal generation starts simultaneously (or with an exactly defined delay) in:
– All involved instruments
– All basebands of the same R&S SMW
This section explains how to fulfill the last requirement with the provided trigger set-
tings.

Mode", on page 640 for information on simultaneous signal generation start in mul-
tiple instruments.
5.5.3.1 Trigger the Baseband Sources with a Common Signal
The R&S SMW supports you to trigger all basebands simultaneous and couples auto-
matically the trigger settings in all available basebands (see "Receiving and Providing
Trigger Signals" on page 243).
In test setups that require the signal of two or more baseband signals but that do not
use the advantages of the coupled trigger settings, you can trigger the baseband
generators from a common trigger source. A common trigger source can be an exter-
nal trigger source or the internal trigger signal of one baseband that is distributed to the
other basebands.
Use one of the following possibilities:
