•ColourScale
ThecolourscalesusedbytheES80are
designedtoreectthehowstrongtheechoes
are.Theechostrengthismeasuredindecibels(dB).Inthebasiccolourscalewith12
colours,eachcolourrepresentsa3dBstep.Thismeansthattheentirescalecovers
36dB.ThedynamicrangeoftheES80ismuchlarger.TheColourScaleparameters
allowyoutochangethelowerlimitofcolourscalerangetomatchthecurrentechoes.
•ColourSetup
TheColourSetupdialogboxcontrolsthepresentationcoloursusedbytheES80.This
includesthepalette("skin"),thenumberofcoloursinuse,andthecolourscale.
•Bottombar
ThecolourscaleisshownonthebottombarevenwhentheColourScaleinformation
paneisclosed.
Thefollowingcolourscalesareavailable.

TheSmoothEchosounderscaleisbasedonthestandard12-colourscale.Additional
colourshavebeenaddedbetweenthemtomakesmoothercolourtransitions.
Beforeyouopenaninformationpane,youmustrstclickinanechogramviewto
makeit"active".Bydoingthisyouselectthechannel.Inmostcases,thedatainthe
informationpaneisonlyvalidfortheselectedchannel.Inthiscontext,thephrase
channelisusedasacommontermtoidentifythecombinationoftransceiver,transducer
andoperatingfrequency.
Youcaneasilychangethephysicalsizeandshapeofeachinformationpane.
Clickinitslowerrightcorner,anddragtoanewsize.Toresettheinformation
panetoitsdefaultsize,selecttheResetsizebuttoninitstoprightcorner.
TheTransparencyfunctionallowsyoutoadjusthowmuchyouareabletosee"through"
theinformationpanesyouhaveopened.Youcanadjustthesettingfrom0%(no
transparency)to90%(almostfulltransparency)instepsof10%.
