echogramfrom-10m,therangemustbelarger
than10meters,forexample20meters.

Thebottomisshownwithastrongcontour.Since
theechogramisreferencedtotheseasurface,the
bottomwillvarywiththeactualdepth.
Differentbottomconditionswillhaveavisualeffectonhowthebottomechois
drawn.Ahardbottom(rock)willgiveyouastrongerecho-andthusadarker
colour-thanasoftbottom(mudorsilt).
TheEchogrampageintheEchogramdialogboxallowsyoutomakeadjustmentsto
thebottomcontour.Youcanaddablackbottomline,andawhitelinetomakethe
bottom"standout".Youcanusethehardnesslinetoindicatehowhardthebottomis.

Thistextidentiesthetransducer-andthusalsothechannel-usedtocreatethe
echogram.Inthiscontext,thephrasechannelisusedasacommontermtoidentify
thecombinationoftransceiver,transducerandoperatingfrequency.

lengthofeachlinereectsthereceivedechoamplitude.
