•RemotePort
TheRemotePortisimportantifyouwanttoexportinformationfromthe
ProcessorUnittoaperipheraldeviceonthelocalareanetwork(LAN).The
applicationontheperipheraldevicewill"listen"tothisportnumber.
Ifyouwanttoestablishpoint-to-pointcommunicationfordataimportfrom
a
peripheraldeviceonthenetwork,youmayneedtodenethenetworkport
onthisdevice.
Tondtheportnumber,consultthedocumentationforthedevice,and/orthe
applicationtobeusedonit.Inmostcases,thisperipheraldeviceisanother
computeronalocalareanetwork.
•Protocol
Thisisthecurrentprotocolspeciedfortheport.Eachportcanreceivemultiple
datagramssimultaneously,providedthattheyallusethesameprotocol.
•Input
Thiscolumnidentiestheexternalsensor(anytypeof"measuringdevice")that
iscurrentlyconnectedtotheport.Tochoosewhattypeofdevicetoimport
datafrom,selectInputunderthetable.
Add
Selectthisbuttontoaddanewport.Thisisrequiredifyouhaveaddednew
hardwaretotheProcessorUnit,forexamplebyinstallinganextrainterfaceadapter.
Ifyouhavepreviouslyreleasedanunusedport,butwanttobringitbacktoES80
use,youmustalsoselectthisbutton.
Ifyoutrytoaddaserialport,thebuttonwillbedisabledifyourProcessorUnithas
nomoreserialports.Ifoneormoreserialportsareavailable,youcanselectaport
inthedialogboxthatopens.
Remove
Selectthisbuttontodeleteaport.
OncetheES80hasidentiedandlistedalltheavailableserialportsandLANports
ontheProcessorUnit,theycannotbeusedbyanyothersoftware.IftheES80does
notneedaspecicport,itcanbereleasedforotheruse.Clicktheapplicableport
toselectit,thenselectRemovetodeletetheportfromthelist.

Noacknowledgementisrequired;theportisremovedinstantly.
Setup
InordertouseaserialportorLAN(Ethernet)porttoreceiveortransmit
information,itscommunicationparametersmustbesetuptomatchtheperipheral
device.SelectoneofthelistedportsandthenSetupunderthetabletosetuptheport
parameters.Adedicateddialogboxopensforyoutochangeoracceptthesettings.
