Reducingownoise
Theshapeofthetransducer(ordomearoundit)
mustbeasstreamlinedaspossible.
Thehullplatinginfrontofthetransducermustbe
assmoothaspossible.
Important
Beespeciallyawareofbilgekeelsandzincalloy
anodes.Thekeelmustberoundedoffwithout
sharpedges.Neitherextrudingobjectsnorabrupt
transitionsmustbepresent.
Eachtransducermustbemountedwithasmallinclinationangle(approximately2
degrees).
Reducingmachinerynoise
Eachtransducermustbeinstalledasfarawayfromtheengineroomaspossible.
Themainengineandrelevantauxiliaryenginesandequipmentmustbexedtorigid
foundationstoavoidvibrations.
Anyhullstructurethatmayvibrateshouldbedampedorcoatedtoreducethe
vibrations.
Theuseofshockabsorbersoroatingraftsmaysometimesreducethisnoise.The
structure-bornenoisemaybereducedbyisolation,forexamplebyprovidingvibration
clampingbetweenthetransducerandthehullstructure.
Reducingpropellernoise
Eachtransducermustbeinstalledasfarawayfromthepropellersaspossible.
Sufcientclearancebetweenthepropellersandthehull,therudderandthekeelmust
beprovided.
Placethezincalloyanodesinplaceswherethewaterowistheleastdisturbed.
Ensurethatthepropellersbladesarecorrectlydesignedandwithoutdamages.
Theuseofabafebetweenthepropellersandthetransducermayreducenoise
appreciably.
Staticdischargescausedbytherotatingpropellershaftmayberemovedbyproper
groundingorbymountingacoalbrushfromtheshafttovesselground.
