Reducingownoise
•Theshapeofthetransducer(ordomearoundit)
mustbeasstreamlinedaspossible.
•Thehullplatinginfrontofthetransducermustbe
assmoothaspossible.
Important
Beespeciallyawareofbilgekeelsandzincalloy
anodes.Thekeelmustberoundedoffwithout
sharpedges.Neitherextrudingobjectsnorabrupt
transitionsmustbepresent.
•Eachtransducermustbemountedwithasmallinclinationangle(approximately2
degrees).
Reducingmachinerynoise
•Eachtransducermustbeinstalledasfarawayfromtheengineroomaspossible.
•Themainengineandrelevantauxiliaryenginesandequipmentmustbexedtorigid
foundationstoavoidvibrations.
•Anyhullstructurethatmayvibrateshouldbedampedorcoatedtoreducethe
vibrations.
Theuseofshockabsorbersoroatingraftsmaysometimesreducethisnoise.The
structure-bornenoisemaybereducedbyisolation,forexamplebyprovidingvibration
clampingbetweenthetransducerandthehullstructure.
Reducingpropellernoise
•Eachtransducermustbeinstalledasfarawayfromthepropellersaspossible.
•Sufcientclearancebetweenthepropellersandthehull,therudderandthekeelmust
beprovided.
•Placethezincalloyanodesinplaceswherethewaterowistheleastdisturbed.
•Ensurethatthepropellersbladesarecorrectlydesignedandwithoutdamages.
•Theuseofabafebetweenthepropellersandthetransducermayreducenoise
appreciably.
•Staticdischargescausedbytherotatingpropellershaftmayberemovedbyproper
groundingorbymountingacoalbrushfromtheshafttovesselground.
