ENVOY™ TRANSCEIVER REFERENCE MANUAL 429
Channels, HF networks and scanning
For transmission and reception to occur over HF, the transceivers must be able to tune
to the same frequency. This may be defined in a channel, or the transceiver may be
free-tuned to this frequency.
A transceiver that has a range of frequencies on which it can receive a call should have
scanning switched on so that all of these frequencies are monitored for calling activity.
Transceivers must also have the same call systems available to be able to detect the
call. For example, a call made using an ALE/CALM HF network will send a particular
type of preamble before the call. This can only be detected by other transceivers with
ALE/CALM HF networks programmed.
